What is Freemasonry?

Freemasonry is a difficult thing to describe, because Freemasonry is different to every person. To some, Freemasonry is an opportunity to improve their community through outreach. To others, entering the Craft provides an avenue to improve themselves, and display that improvement in their professional and personal lives.

Freemasonry is the practice of taking good men and making them better. We have many beliefs, but three of our core tenants are explained below: Brotherhood, Relief, and Truth.

Tenants

Freemasonry provides education through allegories. Our education dictates certain tenants and beliefs that make every man the best that they can be. Some of our core tenants are described below.

Brotherhood

From the moment you enter Freemasonry, until the day you pass on beyond this world, you will have a support system that provides a network of peers. Your Brothers will lift you up in times of darkness, and celebrate your success in times of great light. Regardless of your circumstances, know that your Brothers are always there to lend a helping hand.

Relief

Freemasonry believes that every person deserves to be safe, happy, and successful. We do not wish to see anyone in need. Freemasons use this belief to drive their behavior of helping others. Providing care and resources for others is a critical aspect of Freemasonry, and why you might see activities hosted by your local Lodge throughout the cities and towns you frequent.

Truth

Freemasonry teaches that a Brother should continue their search for knowledge throughout their entire life. Through education, collaboration, and volunteerism, Freemasons reveal more truths about themselves and the world around them, in order to improve the internal, as well as the external.
